About Me
I’m Erin Alladin, and I wear multiple hats as an author, an editor, and a passionate outdoor educator.
I was born in Northern Ontario into a household where nature, literacy, and music reigned. After a BA in Honours English, I braved the metropolis of Toronto in order to pursue a post-graduate program in publishing, and ended up staying for nine years. I kept my country-girl heart happy by running a communal permaculture garden while my career progressed from publicity intern to associate editor at a literary children’s publisher, and while I began publishing my own picture books and early readers. Today I live up north again as a freelancer, in a garden-rich house outside of Parry Sound with my wife, a whole lot of books, and too few bookcases. When I’m not writing and editing, I co-host the gardening podcast Plants Always Win.
As of January 2025 I am represented by Léonicka Valcius at Transatlantic Literary Agency.

My Interests
In my downtime, you’ll find me down in the garden, out in the forest, or at home making crafts.
I understand that for most clients, it won’t be my professional credentials that spark a connection between us (though you can find those here). It will be a bandwidth we share, a point of reference we can both work from, or some specific niche knowledge I have that you need. To that end…

Even more importantly for the writer/editor’s craft, I’ve worked a year at a national magazine and eleven years at a publishing company, in roles that constantly changed and grew. I’ve read furiously in a wide range of genres and learned obsessively across a never-ending list of subjects. I’ve lived among and built relationships with people of all ages, in communities ranging from Northern-Ontario villages to the metropolis of Toronto. And I never stop thinking about communication: what makes it work, what makes it fail, and how getting it right makes our world a better place.
